Automotive Sales...Women are scarce, but successful!

I often wonder why more women aren't in the car business. Is it family responsibilities, or the perceived working environment that women have of car dealerships? Could it be the hours or weekend work?

Here's what I do know. Women are better suited for sales. At the risk of sounding stereotypical, women have more empathy than men. They can put themselves in the "shoes" of the customer much better than men. They are less threatening or intimidating to customers and have a knack for making people feel comfortable. In the car business, or any type of sales for that matter, that is a key for success.

In the Vaden Automotive Group, we have a handful of very successful women in sales. We would like to have more. The potential income is extremely good. 50k and above is very realistic, even in a down market. The environment of our dealerships is very professional and friendly. The 70's and 80's when there were virtually no women in sales are long gone! It also helps that we have a dealer who just happens to be female.
